Canon Point: (Well) After the end of Reunification, which is the last (as of this point in time) story in the timeline, where Cliffjumper decided to not go with Nexus Prime for a chance to (eventually) get home, but rather stay because he's not finished with the evil Autobots. Further it's also just after he stepped through the space bridge portal back in Axiom Nexus, presumably to go home after Shockwave's experiments were revealed.
Setting: First and foremost, all various iterations of the Transformer franchise are canon; this is solved by all of them being connected, but their own thing, basically belonging to a connected multiverse with various things being constants. Things such as the planet which they come from being Called Cybertron, the Cybertronians being capable of transforming (thus, Transformers) either into vehicles or objects, and, in nearly all of the continuities, having been created by Primus, a being - god - of light, life, and creation, whose counterpart Unicron stands for entropy, all that could be considered "evil" and seeks the ultimate end of the multiverse.
The fact that the Transformers inhabit a multiverse will be quite necessary to understand in this case, as Cliffjumper's variation isn't just a straight universal timestream (as they're called in-continuity), but rather is a split timeline from another stream (in this case, the original Marvel G1 US comics, breaking off after the defeat of Unicron), and while they're all unknowing of this, it will matter in how Cliffjumper ends up where he shouldn't.
Cliffjumper's particular universe isn't unusual, especially as it's a splinter timeline and thus everything that happened before the defeat of Unicron happened in the "parent timeline" as well. Earth is as we know it... except that giant robots have been duking it out - to no greater damage - for a good while now (as the original US comics run would have placed the Transformers' battles on Earth for), though this Earth has its superheroes who've been quite difficult to the Cybertronians (technically, the Marvel G1 comics do take place on some variation of (a) Marvel Earth, as sometimes the Transformers interact with Marvel heroes, but this is phased out later), and in the "present", there's, for example, some real heavily armed military group in the US geared towards fighting Cybertronians/the returned Decepticons, which Prime, obviously, disapproves of, as the humans only manage to get themselves killed a lot. The differences, further, then are mostly in a few events immediately before the battle with Unicron, and everything that happens after.
In the orginal timeline, for example, a great many mechs died all over Earth as Starscream, possessed and driven quite (power)mad by the Underbase (a collection of all previous Cybertronian knowledge), killed all those that attempted to stop him. In the splinter timeline, Cliffjumper (along with quite a few others) was severely inurjured, but didn't die. He was instead held on life-support until fifteen years after the defeat of Unicron, when there were enough resources to repair him. During these fifteen years, too, Cybertron was healed and restored by this timestream's variation of minicons, who were created by the Last Autobot to do just this, to allow the Cybertronians to return.
(The basic point of the splinter timeline Classics is, was to make null the G2 comics, straighten out some plot points... and introduce the dark "other" side to the Transformers multiverse, apparently, as we'll see.)
In the greater course of things, Cliffjumper isn't special; he'd obviously distinguished himself enough as a warrior to come with on the Ark originally, and he knows the Prime well enough to (or perhaps simply ignores proper behaviour) argue with him when he doesn't like what he's told to do. He was also the first mech offer to come with Optimus Prime back to Earth after being repaired when Megatron was found to still be alive.
Status quo again; or it would have been but for the fact that here, now, the fact that the Transformers multiverse is connected by various means start to play in, as two Cybertronians from another universe appear in this one, leading up to Cliffjumper standing underground in front of a computer informing three other Cybertronians (two of which are our dimension-hoppers) that they're part of something bigger, a "designated Prime", and that Primus has need of his warriors, as the source of all Cybertronian life (that which their sparks and even their frames, on a metaphysical as well as energy level, are made up of), that which Primus itself is made out of - rareified energon - is in danger and needs to be protected.
Cliffjumper here, is merely an accidental tag-along; Prime told him to watch the Autobot dimension-hopper Skyfall and Cliffjumper, being both obedient to Prime and suspicious in general does.
Does so even when the computer called the Caretaker opens up a space bridge portal (a mode of transportation usually used somewhat like Star Gates, shortening time and distances it takes to travel enormous distances) that's supposed to take them "elsewhere" to where these Cybertronians need to go, and comes with them.
This is then the second part where the Transformers multiverse come into play, as Cliffjumper doesn't end up with the other three, but somehow manages to breach a normally resilient dimensional barrier and end up... on the other side from the multiverse he usually inhabits.
That is, the Transformers multiverse doesn't just have one side, but two. A side where the usual state of things; good Autobots, evil Decepticons, Optimus Prime fighting for freedom and against Megatron who wishes for a galactic... or universal empire is backwards. Ergo, the Decepticons are good, the Autobots evil, and the greatest hero that the "positive polarity" multiverse knows, is now its greatest enemy, and Megatron is a champion for freedom and good.
Further, sparks have reversed polarity, consisting of electrons instead of positrons and are called embers.
Into this "negative polarity (multi)universe", then, Cliffjumper is set down, the only proof that he isn't lying and is who and what he says he is, is his reversed (or, from his point of view, correct) polarity spark, the temporal and tachyon particles in his field, that the Cliffjumper of this universe is dead and the fact that he professes a similar philosophy as that of the heroic Decepticons, despite being quite... violent about it.
Axiom:
The particular universe the city of Axiom Nexus belongs to is, in the greater scheme of things, just another universe. It just happens to be an old one, and, perhaps due to said age or some other quirk, has a problem with transwarp rifts opening up to other universes, allowing individuals from other universes to come through. It's further a Cybertron where the Autobots and Decepticons didn't fall to civil war, but rather were able to work with/against each other in the political arena, furthering their society and development of technology both, leading to the state of the native Cybertronians "transcending" their original state; hence TransTech.
But all is not well; the TransTech hold a not high at all view of anyone who isn't TransTech themselves, and also consider any out-of-universe "visitor" a potential threat to their peace and planet, and the TransTech Shockwave is seen in the comic "Transcendent" to capture one of the combiner pieces to Nexus Prime since he was "different" and that they can gain a lot from completely taking the mech apart.
So much for the in-canon version of Axiom Nexus and the TransTech, game-wise, "anyone" (that is, not from the greater TF multiverse) could fall through, and here the TransTech Shockwave had established a way to draw those he would deem possibly interesting for his own research through the transwarp bleeds, to be monitored and experimented on. And while all "visitors" are given an idenfication bolt upon arrival in the Nexus, Shockwave made sure his "subjects" got special ones, both to be easier to keep track of, and to allow them all to communicate with the others he'd pulled through, as part of the experiment.
Obviously it wouldn't take long for those "special" ones trapped in the Nexus to realize something was off, when every now and then one or several individuals disappear from their greater circle only to reappear three days later, often with some sort of alteration done, regardless of mechanoid or organic status. Not that the authorities could, or would, do much, without solid proof, and proof... is hard to get ahold of, when Shockwave's used to keep his experiments on the low-down, or they're being explicitely approved of and shielded by those even higher up, like the TransTech Megatron.
In the end, however, enough evidence had accumulated to justify a full investigation, and Shockwave was caught, allowing these "special" subjects to be sent home - hopefully.
Personality: Cliffjumper is a trigger-happy, short-tempered and suspicious 'bot by nature. He has, though, had to amend his reactions lately, ever since he got shunted off into a different dimension where things are quite reversed from what he's used to. It's necessary to rein in your paranoia if you're gonna work with what you've known as enemies for practically forever, and now they're suddenly the good guys. One could probably assert that being kicked to the mirror universe has settled Cliffjumper in a way nothing that could have happened in his home dimension would. Having to think before you shoot what suddenly are your allies tend to make one do that (or mess up one's reaction times, in Cliffjumper's opinion). Not to say he's not still paranoid or suspicious, especially since Cyclonus' betrayal and assassination of Megatron as an undercover agent for Alpha Trion, but he's no better at chasing out potential traitors or spies, either, and has definitely toned down his public suspicions and accusations.
He's gotten slightly better at not just rushing in and shooting everything deemed "enemy" (read "Decepticon"), if only because getting caught by Autobots probably worse than any "normal" Decepticon requires him to be more careful about what he does. On the other hand, he takes the "reversed" Autobots almost as a personal insult, and his eagerness to "sort 'em out" (especially Prime) is well-matched with Sideswipe's urge for revenge. He is, however, still prone to just act or rush right into a situation if it's right in front of him, but he's also learned to think and plan, as he acknowledged to Starcsream that he would usually be the first to suggest (and the first in line) to rush to Megatron's aid when Ricochet had him, but instead advocated for a smaller, planned strike force while they continued with the preparations for the launching of the Nemesis.
Cliffjumper's probably had more "learning experiences" since he came to this universe than he's had in his entire earlier function in his home universe... Of course, it could just be that he's never bothered to pay attention, or learn anything, from the earlier ones enough to actually let them affect him. If you're on Cliffjumper's side, he'll defend you, and the cause, until he can't move anymore, and even then, if he can still fire a gun or a cannon, or hit something, he'll do that. Size and relative strength/power of his opponent(s) doesn't matter; he'll do his best and (attempt to) get through it on sheer determination (or anger) alone. This trait hasn't been lessened by his relocation, rather strengthened and reinforced (Megatron taking a shot meant for him during the attack against the Ark's launching platform for no other reason than that all life is sacred certainly helped to convince him he could work with these backwards Decepticons, though). Perhaps to a level the Decepticons of the mirrorverse aren't always comfortable with, but then, they've always questioned Cliffjumper's eagerness to get into a fight (with the Autobots), and his zeal with his weaponry.
Abilities, Weaknesses, and Power Limitation Suggestions:
Abilities:
(As of the story Transhuman, there's some pointers that the glass gas, while capable of being produced artificially as Cliffjumper knows the formula for it, should also be possible to come directly from Cliffjumper himself, as an inherent power from his spark and something called a power chip rectifier. If this is the case, he certainly can't do it currently, but might, perhaps, learn to do it... probably causing the glass gas effect by touching whatever it is he wants to affect.)
Weaknessess: He could hit himself with the gas if he's not careful. Cliffjumper is also a bit of "charge first, think later" in certain situations, which, while sometimes ending well for him (or others, for that matter), could just as well end up extremely badly. Being (relatively) short compared to other Cybertronians, he has a lot less reach, and he's also not the strongest out there... which doesn't stop him from preferring melee, even if he's a more than passable sniper.
He can also obviously be torn apart by someone/thing with sufficient strength, and great amounts of electricity wouldn't be healthy for him either, and a prolonged exposure to extreme cold would probably not affect him the best way either.
Inventory: A gun capable of firing his glass gas, at least one more "normal" laser blaster, one cannon larger than he is, probably a leftover energon rod from the mirrorverse or two (since he could drink normal energon in the Nexus) and a jetpack that changes to a trailer/jetski in altmode, so it can be tugged around by Cliffjumper in his altmode.
Appearance: Around thirteen feet in height, Cliffjumper counts as a "small" Cybertronian, and he's coloured red everywhere except for where his limbs possess no car-kibble armour, where he's gray, as well as his face. He carries most of the back part of his car mode on his back, and the front with headlights on/as his feet, with the doors on his lower arms and the top of the car creating the chestplate. (That is, something like a kid with large shoes and a hooded sweater, if you will.)
As a Transformer/Cybertronian, he can turn into a car, which... Isn't one single car model, but rather several different ones, basically making his car-alt mode into some heavily custom job. It's a variation of a sports car, rounded off and squat, perhaps more suited to city-environments if it'd been purely of Earth-make.
(The TF wiki says this; The general shape of the car is based on a heavily customized one-of-a-kind 1992-1995 fifth generation Honda Civic hatchback with lots of aftermarket "ricer" add-ons (such as a large front bumper, large fenders and a large rear wing). The front section takes some design cues from various models of the Subaru Impreza WRX, namely the hood vent present on all models, the front grille of the 2004-05 WRX and the headlights and the midsection of the front bumper from the 2006-07 WRX STi. The shape of the rear fenders is also vaguely inspired by the Volkswagen New Beetle.)
Technically, Cliffjumper ought to have blotches of silver paint that vaguely resemble flames as deco on his feet, the doors on his arms and on the chestplate, but this, for whatever reason, disappeared when he jumped from his own to the negative polarity universe, and he is now solidly red.
(Obviously OOC, it's because the colourist for the comic didn't feel like colouring these in or something like that, but IC there's no explanation and no noticing of this sudden lack.)
Age: A few million years, at the least. Probably nothing in Cybertronian age.
OC/AU Justification ;
If AU, How is Your Version Different From Canon, and How Will That Come Across?
First and foremost, he's had to deal with - yet again - being plucked out of his (current) dimension by ending up yanked over into Axiom Nexus by TransTech Shockwave. Considering he's had to deal with "the same and yet not" of meeting individuals he recognizes but aren't the ones he knows before, it was mostly a question of trying to sort the good/evil Autobot/Decepticon issue (again). He was offered to share apartment with a (cartoon G1) Skyfire, but soon had the place to himself as the shuttle got sent home. Despite struggling a bit to keep up with the rent, Cliffjumper never got the idea to ask anyone to move in... he'd taken the initial offer, but he didn't really trust - or like - any of the potential mechs that might need some place to live. Despite this, and since he did have some initial understanding of "universal variations", he made a few friends from Autobots he knew well enough from his original dimension.
At one point, he ended up helping to take down a giant-and-upgraded version of a particular (cartoon G1)Megatron's Giant Purple Griffin, and since he hasn't changed tack while being shunted into the mirrorverse, why would he now? Which meant he went head-on with the creature, attempting to go at the head up close and personal, despite the prehensile cables it had as a mane. A short while later, a Tyran Bumblebee appeared in Axiom, and, being quite willing to trust a "positive polarity" if from another dimension than his own Bumblebee (maybe even as a way to remind himself of his own/the regular versions instead of the mirrorverse variation), Cliffjumper offered the mech a place to stay if he needed it.
A while after this, the event that have arguably affected Cliffjumper the most - even if he'd deny it, and have been "dealing" mostly by shoving it away - was being kidnapped by (IDW) Nemesis Prime and injected with various chemical concoctions. While Cliffjumper dealt with that while it was happening with his usual do-first-think-later attitude, the aftermath was a lot less easier to deal with, especially as there was no real closure as the twisted Prime had made sure Cliffjumper couldn't remember any full details of the mech who did all of that to him. Cliffjumper was gone for three days, and upon coming back, besides dealing with something of a hangover and withdrawal, also had some trouble keeping mechs who only meant well apart from enemies and/or their mirrorverse counterparts.
And, as noted, he hasn't exactly dealt with this so much as just recovered enough to ignore it, though he did have some help from a particular Praxian (IDW) Optimus Prime and his drone Roller, which led to talking to the Prime himself.
Later, after it was clear the Tyran Bumblebee had been sent home and after some mess during Halloween (Cliffjumper forgot about an energon cube given as a "treat" for giving something to the interdimensional trick-or-treater that stopped by, and ended up a lot larger than he usually was for about a day) Cliffjumper followed up on Optimus' earlier offer to move in with himself and that Prime's Jazz, but they'd hardly settled from that when the information that Shockwave had been caught and they were all being sent home were dropped on them.

Log Sample:
So maybe he hadn't ended up with Skyfall and the others in Axiom Nexus, but rather in the mirrorverse when he took the Caretaker's stellar sp--space bridge. And maybe he hadn't taken it in the most graceful way when he first landed in the mirror universe. That didn't mean the slagging multiverse could decide to yank him around to a million other places and not put him where he wanted to go now that the TransTech had decided to send them home. He'd resigned himself to not be able to finish dealing with the psychotic Autobots and just go back to business as "normal" back in his original universe.
He wasn't exactly overly pleased with the prospect, because, fraggit, he'd promised he'd help, and he didn't want to leave the Decepticons high and dry, but at least going home would mean getting to kick the normal Decepticons' collective afts again. Except he wasn't home. Or in the mirrorverse he'd most recently come from. And it was severely torquing him off. He had thinks to do, mechs to kill, evil, slagging Optimus Prime to beat into deactivation with his own legs. A thousand things that didn't involve apparently falling a few feet and landing in a pile of scrap on some space station in nowhere, multiverse.
And hadn't the mandatory identification bolt from the Nexus been bad enough? Upon the discovery of the fact that he'd got a communicator incorporated into his systems, without even so much as a "by your leave" he spent several minutes hurling abuse about it. Who knew what the frag else might have been put in there!? At least last time he'd known when it happened. Glowering at the particular pile he sat in, Cliffjumper finally shrugged and poked around the settings, intent on sticking his foot out there in some way.
Even if it might have been more clever to listen in, see who and what was around. That... just wasn't his style. Didn't mean he couldn't be somewhat careful though.
Network Sample:
[Compared to the last time he did this when arriving somewhere that could be described as a interdimensional nexus, there's only audio... after he'd fiddled around, angry at having something like added without input. Not that there'd been much choice in the Nexus either. Still.]
I assume there's no fraggin' way of gettin' out of here immediately if ya want or choose to leave, right? That's all I need to know right now, really. So much for TransTech space bridge tech...
[Cliffjumper is thoroughly frustrated; at the least he'd expected to end up in his original home dimension, since that was where the TransTech authorities had intended to send him. But no, instead he's ended up in some other place with an interdimensional rift problem or whatever.]
[And then the rest of the message has tagged-on Cybertronian encryption and is in Cybertronix.]
Anyone else here, at all? Though anyone with a fraggin' purple---
[Cliffjumper manages to cut himself off, barely. Better to know who is here than not, though a statement like that would probably have most - whoever they were - with a purple insignia - of whatever configuration - come taunting rather than skittering away.]
